The Special Education Manual was developed by the Idaho Department of Education to be offered to Local Education Agencies (LEA) for adoption. The manual meets the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirements and is consistent with state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and legal requirements.
Important: Idaho Special Education Manual Comprehensive Review
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) states in §300.149 that each State Educational Agency (SEA) must have policies and procedures in place to ensure that educational programs within the state comply with general supervision, monitoring, and enforcement requirements outlined in §§300.600 through 300.602 and §§300.606 through 300.608. These programs must also meet the educational standards set by the SEA.
The Idaho Department of Education (Department) will be conducting a comprehensive review of the Idaho Special Education Manual this year. We will be posting each chapter with proposed redline edits one by one until all chapters have been reviewed. Members of the public may comment on the proposed edits as they are posted using the Public Comment Form.
