The Science department at the State Department of Education provides assistance to parents, educators, administrators, students, and the community in topics pertaining to science. We promote opportunities for students to gain a deep understanding of scientific concepts so they can apply that knowledge in K-12, post-secondary institutes, and the work force. These skills should include the ability to acquire relevant information, organize data, develop balanced thought processes, construct new knowledge, and to have a global understanding of issues in science.

To aid this study, it is recommended that local education agencies (LEAs) develop a K-12 science curriculum that clearly defines student learning of content knowledge and skills. The key components of science content knowledge includes understanding the nature and history of science, biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, and technology.
