Educator Equity

Educator Equity involves moving America toward the goal of ensuring that every student in every public school has equal access to excellent educators. Secretary Duncan announced in July 2014 that the U.S. Department of Education would ask each State to submit a plan describing the steps it will take to ensure that “poor and minority children are not taught at higher rates than other children by inexperienced, unqualified, or out-of-field teachers,” as required by Section 1111(b)(8)(C) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965.

Idaho is committed to improving student outcomes across the state. This plan creates a path towards strengthening and maintaining educator preparation and effectiveness, with an emphasis on districts and schools that have the greatest need.
