Response to Intervention

Since 2012, the Idaho Department of Education has been working with districts to support implementation of Response to Intervention (RTI) through a State Personal Development Grant (SPDG). This work has transformed RTI, from what many believed was a pathway to special education, into an educational tool that provides targeted instructional interventions to student’s areas of specific need as soon as those needs become apparent.

Idaho has identified 5 essential components necessary for RTI:
